By Douglas Simmons
November 21, 2016 - (Atlanta, GA) – The Cascade United Methodist Church (CUMC) congregation in conjunction with the CUMC New Advent Choir, led by Yergan C. Jones (Photo on the right) supported more than 1,000 individuals and families at their annual New Advent Choir Thanksgiving Basket distribution held at Cascade United Methodist Church, 3144 Cascade Road, Atlanta.
This annual event supported people who are less fortunate. They will receive all the fixings needed for Thanksgiving dinner and more than $200 worth of groceries.
First Time volunteers- Why this event is important to them!
Amani Davney-It is great to give back to your community.
William Ward- This is important because everyone should have a great thanksgiving without being hungry.
Micah Davney - Important to service your community and it is beneficial to serve people that are less fortunate than you are.
Verlin Reece (Centered in Photograph) - Why is this important to you?
It gives me the opportunity to give back to the community and I am a very community oriented gentlemen and our company is, Quality Foods. It is a great opportunity to serve people and give back to people that have special needs. No matter what of year it is, I have that spirit on giving back to people no matter where they are located. I live in Commerce, Ga but I love coming and being a part of this and seeing the organization and seeing the involvement of people and how much you love the people and show the compassion of Christ to all the people in this community.
How many year have you volunteered for this event?
This is my 4th year!
