

Smyrna, Georgia – May 15, 2019 -Smyrna Elite closed out their spring season with their annual banquet held at the Smyrna Community Center. Head coach AJ Davis and associate coach Todd Schusterman recognized several athletes for their accomplishments over the past year both on and off the field.
Marielle Lewis, student athlete of Women’s Track and Field, University of Alabama at Birmingham(UAB), was the Guest Speaker. After she shared some inspiration to the younger athletes, ranging in age from 7 to 15 years old, everyone mingled over dinner sponsored by Max Angel, Owner of Los Bravos Restaurant on South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, Georgia, before the trophy presentation.
The athletes are preparing for the USATF Georgia - Area A Meet and the AAU District Championship coming up this June. The summer league athletes will start preparing for the USATF Junior Olympics and the AAU JO Championships.

About Smyrna Track Club
Smyrna Elite Track Club was established in 2014 to promote the sport of Track & Field in Smyrna, Ga. Smyrna Elite Track Club is a member of USATF and AAU and competes in local, regional, and national meets. Our athletes in both of our programs range in age from 7 to 18 years old and the skill level of the team ranges from beginner to highly competitive athletes. During our first four seasons, our program has produced multiple All Americans, Junior Olympic Qualifiers, State Champions, and State Qualifiers. Our track club continues to pursue excellence by developing top-notch training programs and retaining a knowledgeable, volunteer coaching staff. This dynamic combination has helped our athletes continuously excel at the state, regional and national championship level. The Elite Academy program reserved for athletes that have competed under our Smyrna Rec program or have previous experience competing at a high level. These athletes are taught the advanced technical components of running, jumping, and throwing, through age-appropriate training techniques to maximize skill acquisition. The Smyrna Recreation program is designed for the beginner athlete. The basic fundamentals of sprinting, distance running and field events are emphasized with this group along with age-appropriate strength, sprint, and endurance workouts. We are one team with one goal... TO BE ELITE!!!
