On Friday February 8, 2020, Cox Communications, kicked off Black History Month on it's Atlanta Corporate Campus, The Black/African American Employee Resource Group(B/AA ERG) hosted the nine Black Greek-Lettered Organizations (BGLO), dubbed the “Divine Nine.”, greeting the ladies(Sorors) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and the men(Brothers) of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated and the “Sons of Blood and Thunder,” men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.

They Kicked-off the morning with an informational session about Cox, Co-Op & Intern opportunities and why Diversity & Inclusion is important within the COX culture. After the morning session, some of the Greeks hit the stage singing and representing their organizations to a packed audience of 200+ people cheering on the students stepping. The B/AA closed the step show with everyone participating in the famous ”Electric Slide”. I loved how The B/AA ERG expressed the importance of Greek Culture and the dancing to the Electric Slide allowed people from all demographics to laugh and enjoy each other.

On Monday February 10, The B/AA continued their Black History Month Celebrations with a Financial Literacy & Wealth Building Seminar appropriately titled” Take in a fresh approach to money and well being. Learn strategies and real-life tips for developing and gaining healthy money habits”. Presented by Special Guest: Angelica Prescod, Financial Advisor with Edward Jones.

I had a chance to speak with Angelica after her session with the Cox Atlanta employees. She wanted me to share this sound advice with everyone, No matter where you are in your life stage and the seasons you are going through, please remember it is never too late to have a sound conversation about where you are trying to go. Be intentional, because what we do now will determine the legacy we leave for other generations and they are depending on you. Let's ACT today!

Get to know Angelica Prescod.
